In the above screenshot you can see an animated globe in the background of the desktop. At the top right side of the desktop the globe is covered by the live picture of a webcam. There's a marker to the top left of the globe, indicating the location of this particular webcam. When you run this preset with DeskoverX, the webcam changes at a given interval and the globe zooms in on the new webcam's location. The globe displays the current day and night side of the earth. Compare it with the live pictures from all over the world! Additionally there is a browser window at the bottom half of the screen displaying the homepage in which the webcam is normally embedded. These sites often display more information about the webcam itself, it's purpose, maybe even local weather data...
Please be aware that some sites try to open additional popup windows, you may want to include some less annoying websites in your playlist. However, to block most of these popup windows, interaction with the DeskoverX browser window is limited. To allow you to follow a link in a website it's possible you use a click with your right mouse button and choose Open Link in New Window. This will open a new normal browser window on top of your desktop
DeskoverX ships with several presets of the most common background layouts (see the other screenshots and descriptions on this website). It's quite easy to load a preset. Here's a short summary of how to load the preset for the above screenshot :
