Using the Playlist Editor of the Picture Player

At first glance, the Playlist Editor looks a bit intimidating or complicated. But actually, it's rather straightforward.

Load, Save and Clear the playlist

The first steps with the Playlist Editor are the most basic ones: Loading and Saving a Playlist. For these actions you use the Load Playlist and Save Playlist buttons at the top center of the window, each opens a standard file selection box. However, if you want to start a completely new playlist, you have to move one button down. To clear the existing playlist from all entries, press the Clear Playlist button. Now you can start a new playlist from scratch. For that, take a look at the rest of the window:

Building the playlist

Starting at the left, there's the playlist area with the playlist. In the picture below, you can see only one entry in this list. But if you decide to add all the webcams from the list on the right side of the window, then the playlist can easily have several hundreds or even thousands of entries. In that case, an additional scrollbar will be added to the playlist area to scroll through all the entries. You can rearrange the order of the playlist entries with drag-and-dropping the entries with your mouse.

Another possibility to reorder the playlist entries is to use two of the buttons with the arrows in the center of the window, the Up or Down buttons. Just select an entry in the playlist by clicking on it, now you can move the entry up or down in the list with these two button. When you have selected an entry in the playlist, you also can use the Remove button to remove the entry from the playlist again. To add CamLinks to the playlist, select a complete folder or a single CamLink from the list of CamLinks on the right side of the Window and click the Add CamLink button.

However, playlist entries are not limited to webcam-links. Below the Up, Down, Add CamLink and Remove buttons there are two other buttons which let you add entries to the playlist: The Add Image File(s) button, which lets you add single pictures or complete picture directories, and the Insert Playlist button, which lets you append existing playlists to your current playlist.

The last button in this column is simply a Close button, which lets you close the window of the Playlist Editor. On closing the window, you will be asked if you want to save the current playlist, if you have altered the playlist but haven't saved it by using the Save Playlist button.

Choosing from the CamLinks

Right from the middle of the window is the CamLink area where you can browse through all the existing entries in the CamLinks list. To add or delete an entry from this list, you have to use the CamLinks Editor

If you have selected one CamLink from the list, additional information concerning this CamLink is displayed at the very right of the window . The Up button here lets you go one directory up. This can also easily by done by clicking with the mouse on the next higher directory in the list. Below this button there are two text field where you can read the links to two webpages. The first one, Cam Page, should display the link to the page on which the webcam is originally displayed. The second one, Home Page, should display the link to the homepage of the website into which the campage is integrated or the homepage of the actual provider/host of the webcam. This homepage can be different from the website where the cam itself is displayed. For example: A weather site shows a collection of webcams, which are all situated at different locations in an area, like a hotel or amusement park. In this case the campage would be part of the weather site, but the homepage should be the website of the hotel or amusement park. Right from the text field are buttons labeled Open. A click on one of these buttons opens your standard browser with the campage or the homepage respectively. Below the text fields with the links is a preview area for the webcam picture.
