Expand the Globe - Spinning preset to the Globe and webcam preset

This tutorial will show you step-by-step how to expand the Globe - Spinning preset in a way that it matches the Globe and Cam preset. These are the steps necessary:

  1. Load the Globe - Spinning preset
  2. Add the Picture Player plugin
  3. Change the new plugin's settings
  4. Placement on the screen
  5. Change the Globe's settings
  6. Save the layouts

Load the Globe - Spinning preset

To start a new own layout you can use two methods: You load an existing layout or preset and use that as a starting point or you create your new layout completely from scratch using an empty layout. In this tutorial you will use the first method and so you will first load the Globe - Spinning preset.

Add the Picture Player plugin

Now that you have begun the new layout by loading the Globe - Spinning preset, you need to add the Picture Player plugin to the layout. In order to do that you must first switch into layoutmode and then add the plugin.

Change the new plugin's settings

Now that the plugin has been added to the layout, you need to change its settings. The Picture Player needs a playlist to know which pictures it should display. You can either create you own playlist with the Playlist Editor or load an existing playlist. For this tutorial you will simply load the All playlist that is installed with DeskoverX. Now set the switching interval to 30 seconds and activate the Shuffle Option.

Placement on the screen

The Globe is already maximized and covers the entire screen, so there are no changes needed here. However, the display area of the Picture Player needs adjusting. Select the Picture Player in the layout manager. The layout frame around the Picture Player's display area is now highlighted and is displayed above all other windows. Now it is easy for you to adjust the size and position of this area, even if you possibly do not see the area itself. Modify the area so that it covers the lower right portion of the screen.

Change the Globe's settings

In the final configuration step you need to make sure that the Globe is turned and zoomed according to the current webcam. Select the Globe plugin in the layout manager with a first click of your mouse. Now click it a second time to open its settings window. Near the top of the settings window you will find the Connections to other plugins setting. Select the Picture Player from the dropdown box. Apply the changes you made and close the settings window.
