General Settings

To alter some general settings of the program, click on the DeskoverX icon in the system-tray and the following menu appears. Choose General Settings... from this menu.

The General tab

DeskoverX has the ability to start automatically when you log in to windows. To activate this feature, check the Run at login box as shown in the picture below. This feature is activated if you run DeskoverX for the first time. If you want to deactivate it and start DeskoverX manually uncheck the box.

The General group has only one setting: the Network-Timeout. This value sets the time the program is waiting for a network request to finish. For example, if you're trying to load a picture from a website, this attempt is canceled if a time longer than the Network-Timeout has passed.

The Proxy Settings group offers some more settings of how to establish the connection to the internet, especially if you are behind a firewall.

• Direct internet connection
  Select this option, if you are directly connected to the internet or do not use a proxy.
• Autodetect proxy settings
  Try to detect whether to use a proxy or not, and if, then which proxy. Depends on settings you made in the windows® internet settings. Might be slow.
• Use Internet Explorer Settings
  Select this option if you want DeskoverX to use the same proxy settings as Internet Explorer. Depends on the settings you made in Internet Explorer or in windows® internet settings.
• Use provided proxy
  Select this option if you want to provide the proxy settings manually.
